Incident: DUII Case: 07N-02690
Location: Hwy 20/SE John Moore Dr
Date/Time: 11-04-07 @ 1109 AM
Suspect: Anthony C. Gearhart, DOB/091683 of Toledo, OR
Details: On 110407, at about 1109 hours, a Newport Police Department officer came upon a black colored Ford Focus sedan with Nebraska license plates. It was being driven with a flat tire and the engine racing noisily on Hwy 20 near John Moore Dr. When contacted, the driver appeared incoherent and unable to respond to simple questions.
The driver was identified as Anthony Gearhart of Toledo. It is believed that the driver was not only driving the car with a flat tire, but with the emergency brake fully engaged. Gearhart appeared to be so heavily intoxicated that officers were unable to care for him at the scene. He was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport by Pacific West Ambulance where he was admitted for observation and treatment due to his highly intoxicated state.
Gearhart was cited and released for DUII and left in the care of the hospital staff.
Anyone with additional information or observations of this driver and vehicle prior to his arrest are asked to contact Officer Jerry Howe at (541) 574-3348
