Details:                  On March 20, 2008 at about 4:45am, Newport Officers were dispatched to the Bay Market on the bay front for a report of a burglary in progress. Officers arrived and found the glass door to the business had been broken and items inside the Market had been tossed about.  The suspects had been seen on video tape breaking the glass and entering the business through the broken glass door. A witness in the area had also seen the two suspects. They were seen getting into a dark red color Audi coupe and leaving the area. At about 1100 am, Officers investigating a separate incident at a local motel learned that two persons matching the suspect description and having a similar vehicle had just checked out of the motel. Other law enforcement agencies were notified of the suspect vehicle and subjects involved. At about 12:20 a.m., a Lincoln County Sheriffs Deputy spotted the vehicle traveling eastbound on Hwy 20 near milepost 2.  With the assistance of Toledo Police Department and Lincoln County Sheriffs Office, the vehicle was stopped near the west junction of Hwy 20 and Business Hwy 20 loop.  Newport Police Detectives and Officers responded to the area and interviewed Currin and Hillard along with other passengers in the car, in regards to the burglary.  At the conclusion of the interviews, Currin and Hillard were arrested and charged with Burglary I, Theft II, and Criminal Mischief II. They were lodged at the Lincoln County Jail on a total bail of $115,000 each.  Some of the stolen items from the burglary were recovered from the vehicle and returned to the Bay Market.  Currin also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Bend, OR where he and Hillard are both from.
