Incident:             Traffic Crash / DUII Arrest               Case: 08N-02282

 

Location:            200 block of NE 1^st Street

 

Date/Time:            06/20/08 at 10:40 p.m.

 

Suspect:               Ryan Kowalski, age 17 of Seal Rock, Oregon

 

Details:                  On 06/20/08 at about 10:40 p.m., Newport Police Officers were dispatched to a reported traffic crash in the 200 block of NE 1^st Street.  When officers arrived they found a gold colored Honda, with extensive rear end damage, pushed up onto the sidewalk, and a green Cadillac, with extensive front end damage, disabled in the street.  The driver of the Cadillac was identified as Ryan Kowalski of Seal Rock. It was learned that the gold Honda had been unoccupied and legally parked about 40 feet from where it came to rest after being hit. 

 

Kowalski was suffering from injuries sustained in the accident.  He was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport by Pac West Ambulance.  At the conclusion of the investigation, Kowalski was cited and released to his parents for DUII, Reckless Driving, and MIP.

 

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene, as neither was operable.  Newport Police were assisted in the investigation by the Newport Fire Department and Pac West Ambulance personnel.
