Driver: Patrick Bourne, 32 years of age, Newport Resident
Pedestrian: Margaret Artinian, 75 years of age, Canada Resident
Details: On 07-14-07 at 11:14 AM, Newport Officers responded to a vehicle crash involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Hwy 101/NW 15th St. The investigation showed that Mr. Bourne was driving a 2004 Ford Focus, and attempted to turn south onto Hwy 101 from NW 15th St. As he did, he drove across the crosswalk where Ms. Artinian was crossing NW 15th St. Mr. Bourne's vehicle collided with Ms. Artinian, knocking her to the ground. Ms. Artinian was tended to by medical personnel and transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport where she was treated for a head injury. Neither Mr. Bourne nor his passengers were injured during the crash. Mr. Bourse was issued a citation for Failure to stop for a pedestrian.
