MEDIA RELEASE 083007 2145
Incident: DUII arrest Case: 07N-02133
Location: Hwy 101 / NE 4th Streets
Date/Time: 083007 @ 1035 AM
Suspect: Debra Anne Grogan, age 45 of Newport
Details: On 083007, at about 1035 hours, Newport PD officers responded to citizen reports of an erratic driver in the area of Hwy 101 and 20th Street. While responding to the area, NPD Officer Reynolds located the vehicle and tried to stop it by using his flashing lights after observing it weaving in and out of its traffic lane. The vehicle continued south bound on Hwy 101, almost causing a head on collision when it entered the center-turn-only lane. The vehicle finally stopped on NE 4th St., but only after Officer Reynolds used his siren to get the drivers attention. The driver, Debra Anne Grogan of Newport, showed signs of impairment and failed sobriety tests. Grogan was arrested and later submitted to a breath test at the Lincoln County Jail with the results of .30% BAC. Because of her high level of intoxication, Grogan was transported to SPCH, where she was medically treated and later released to be lodged at the jail where her bail was set at $7500.00.
Officers wanted to thank those citizens who reported this intoxicated driver and helped remove the threat off the streets of Newport.
