In addition to many other calls for service, the Newport Police reported a unusually high number of traffic incidents over this past weekend, which resulted in a number of arrests.

Jolene M. Anderson, age 18 of Toledo, was arrested for Hit and Run, after Toledo PD officers located her operating a heavily damaged vehicle which had been reported involved in an accident in Newport on 082107. The driver of that vehicle fled the scene in the damaged vehicle. At the conclusion of an interview, an NPD officer arrested Anderson for hit and run and lodged her in the Lincoln County Jail.

Michele Beth Schroeder, age 41 of Davenport, Iowa was arrested for DUII after she nearly ran a Newport PD officer off the road on SE Ferry Slip Rd. in South Beach. Schroeder was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail where she provided a breath sample of .17%

Charity Noelle Koch, age 28 of Reedsport, OR was arrested for DUII after she was seen operating her vehicle in an erratic manner. She was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail where she refused a breath test.

Sean Jerome Nutting, age 44 of Waldport was arrested for DUII while driving a 10 ton work truck after Newport PD officers received citizen complaints of the truck being driven in an erratic manner. Nutting was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail where he provided a breath sample of .21%

Dana Bruce Lattin, age 57 of Hillsboro, OR was arrested for DUII after he was found operating a car without any headlights on. He was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail where he provided a breath sample of .03%

Sheri Dawn Lehnen, age 55 of Lincoln City was arrested for DUII after she was seen operating her vehicle in an erratic manner and well under the speed limit. She was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail where she refused a breath test.
The Newport Police would like to remind motorists to not drink and drive and be vigilant of erratic drivers as we head towards the Labor Day weekend, which is one of the busiest weekends on the coast.
