Incident: 31st Annual Seafood and Wine Festival
Details: Although the Seafood and Wine Festival appeared to be well attended, no major incidents were reported or responded to by the Newport Police Department. The Newport Police Department was assisted at the Festival by the Lincoln County Sheriffs Office, including the Sheriffs Mounted Posse, Toledo Police, Lincoln City Police, Dispatchers from Lincoln County Communications (Lin Com), Oregon State Police, Oregon Liquor Control Commission and TCB Security. Law Enforcement Personnel worked in and around the Festival grounds as well as providing enhanced patrols in the Newport area during and after the Festival. On Friday and Saturday Newport Police, Lincoln County Sheriff Deputies and Oregon State Police conducted saturation patrols for Impaired Drivers.
From 2:00pm on Friday the 22nd, to 3:00pm on Sunday the 24th, officers conducted more than 168 traffic stops, and made 13 Driving While Intoxicated arrests. There were 4 arrests made from the Festival and 29 ejections. 128 incidents of glasses being broken were recorded. All crimes from within the Festival were misdemeanor crimes for disruptive behavior. After Festival hours, officers observed or responded to a higher than normal call volume, however no major incidents were reported.
