Incident: Prostitution Arrest

AKA: LacCoarce, Rene Ann
On 040508, Newport officers received a report of a female subject soliciting prostitution at a local motel in Newport, OR. via contacts on the Internet on a Craigslist web site. Additional information was developed as to where she was staying. From motel receipts, she was identified as Rene Ann Murphy and that a valid warrant charging her with Prostitution had been issued for her arrest in Marion County. Officers made contact with Murphy in her motel room and took her into custody. A male subject, Benjamin Allen Gage age 34 of Albany was in the room with her. A felony warrant charging him with Contempt of Court issued in Marion County was located and he was taken into custody. Subsequent to interviews at the scene, Murphy was charged with a single count of Prostitution in addition to the Marion County Warrant. Murphy was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail with the bail set at $17,500. Gage was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail on the warrant only.
