Details: On 05/16/08 at about 7:53 a.m., the Newport Police, Newport Fire Department, and Pacific West Ambulance responded to the Yaquina Bay Bridge on a reported four-vehicle traffic crash. Upon arrival, Officers found three vehicles were involved in the crash. The investigation showed that traffic had stopped for an unknown reason. While traffic was stopped, a 1995 Toyota 4-Runner, driven by Dean Fleck, crashed into the rear of a 1999 Ford F150 truck, driven by Oswaldo Quezada Perez. Mr. Perez then crashed into a 1998 Chevy Astrovan, driven by Charles Church Jr. Mr. Church then crashed into a fourth vehicle, which had left the scene prior to officer’s arrival. Mr. Perez and Mr. Church were transported to Good Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport. Both lanes of traffic on the Yaquina Bay Bridge were stopped for about 45 minutes while EMS personnel tended to the injured drivers.
