Incident: Hit and Run/Driving Under the Influence Case: 07N-01850
Location: SW Neff Way and SW Alder Street
Date/Time: 7-31-07 @ 12:30 AM
Victim: PUD
Suspect: Tracy D. Hoover, age 45 of Newport
Details: Officers responded to the report of a crash and found a white 1987 Chevrolet van high- centered on a landscaping piece and resting against a power pole. A male ran from officers as they arrive; he was located about a block away. The subject was identified as Tracy Hoover and determined to be the driver of the van when it crashed. Investigation revealed that Hoover failed to negotiate a curve, lost control and drove onto a five foot high lighthouse decoration, causing nonstructural damage to a power pole. The van was high-centered so the driver was not able to leave in it.
Officers observed an open container of alcohol in the van and noted signs of impairment from Hoover. Further investigation revealed that Hoover was Under the Influence of Intoxicants and was arrested. He was lodged at the Lincoln County jail. At the jail, Hoover took a breath test which revealed a blood alcohol level just over twice the legal limit.
Hoover was charged with:
Driving Under the Influence
Hit and Run
Driving While Suspended (Violation)
Total Bail: $15,427.00
