Incident:             Identity Theft/Theft II                       Case: 08N-01221

 

Location:            Lincoln County Courthouse

 

Date/Time:            04/15/08  at  4:15 p.m

 

Victim:                   Lincoln City resident

 

Suspect:               Kim R Bostick, Age 48 of Newport, OR

 

Details:                  On 04/15/08, at about 4:15 p.m., Newport Police were dispatched to the County Clerk’s office in the Lincoln County Courthouse on a report of a person using ID other than her own while filling out marriage applications.  When contacted, the suspect was identified as Kim Bostick of Newport.  She was using ID that belonged to a person in Lincoln City who had reported her purse stolen earlier in the day to the Lincoln City Police Department.  Bostick was taken into custody and additional items stolen from the victim’s purse were found in her clothing pockets.  Bostick was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail on one charge each of Identity Theft and Theft II, with her bail set at $32,500.00.

Incident:             DUII / Hit & Run / Elude                   Case: 08N-01251

 

Location:            Yaquina Bay State Park

 

Date/Time:            041708 at 5:47 p.m.

 

Suspect:               Tedd William Arthur Smith, age 46 of Newport, OR

 

Details:                  On 04/17/08, at about 4:47 p.m., Newport Police officers began receiving calls of a suspected DUII driver from various callers throughout the Newport area.  At about 5:55 p.m., it was learned that one of the callers was following the suspected DUII driver and gave updated locations to the officers via the LINCOM dispatch center.  A Lincoln County Deputy was the first to locate the vehicle; when he activated his lights signaling the vehicle to stop, the vehicle sped away while running stop signs, and entered the Yaquina Bay State Park.  Officers converged on the area and the vehicle was stopped.  Arrested at the scene for DUII and Attempt to Elude a Police Officer was Tedd Smith of Newport, who was also found to have a suspended driver’s license.  Two additional charges of Hit and Run were added when it was learned that Smith had struck a parked vehicle in the parking lot of Abbey’s Pizza Parlor, and a row of mail boxes at the intersection of SW Case and 7th Streets.    His car, a dark blue Honda Civic, was impounded as a result of this incident.  Smith was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail with his bail set at $37,500.00.
