Newport Police to Conduct Compliance Checks

 

The Newport Police Department was scheduled to conduct Compliance Checks on Saturday, May 10, 2008.  Because of staffing shortage, the Compliance Checks were cancelled.

 

In an effort to reduce the use and sales of alcohol to minors, Compliance Checks will be conducted during the second week of June 2008. Compliance Checks will be conducted of at least 90% of all off-premise alcohol sales retailers in Newport.  Funding for the Compliance Checks is supported by funds from the Rural Communities Initiative Grant for the Enforcement of Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL).  Compliance Checks will be conducted by the Newport Police Department with assistance from the Oregon Liquor Control Commission.
